Work and Travel Program



The Work and Travel Program provides international students with the opportunity of experiencing the United States, its customs, cultures and daily life. The focus of the program is to enhance the understanding of diverse cultures and ways of life through daily interaction and contact with U.S. citizens inside and out of business environments. All Participants have the opportunity to work 4 months during their summer school break within a U.S. Employer.

Participant Eligibility
Participants of the Work & Travel Program must fit within the requirements created by the US Department of State for this program, "the selection will be limited to bona fide university students screened for maturity and ability to get maximum benefit from the Summer Travel/Work Programs".

ICEO Work & Travel Program requirements may differ from other companies and are:

  • 18 - 29 years of age
  • A bona fide (full time enrolled) university student
  • Capable of functioning in an English speaking environment
  • Successfully complete the interview process
  • Ability to accurately complete and submit ICEO Work & Travel Program application
  • Ability to document proof of sufficient funds and bring a minimum of $800 USD within your possession upon arriving to US soil
  • Attendance of pre-departure/post-arrival orientation meeting

ICEO Work & Travel Program includes:

  • J-1 Visa documentation
  • 16 weeks compulsory insurance
  • Complete orientation upon arrival in the U.S.
  • One job offer from ICEO
  • Matching with employer and housing arrangements assistance
  • Telephone card (upon arrival)
  • ICEO Summer Work/Travel Program Participant's Handbook
  • Program administration and supervision
  • 24 hour emergency assistance

ICEO Work & Travel Program does not provide:

  • Round trip airfare to the U.S.
  • Airport transfers
  • Domestic transportation expenses
  • All living expenses, including, but not limited to: rent, utilities, deposits, furnishings, meals etc...
  • All applicable visa application fees within the U.S.
  • Consulate/Embassy in Participant's home country
